Resurfacing of the roads within the Business Park was due to start soon, however we have now been notified by West Sussex County Council Highways department that this work has now been deferred.
The gas board will be carrying out major works across the park laying new gas mains and consequently some roads will be dug up to accommodate the new pipes. As a result of this, the Highways department have no option but to defer the resurfacing work until the gas work has been completed.
The Gas Board schedule is:
Chartwell Road: 23/08/10 to 04/02/11
Marlborough Road: 25/10/10 to 11/03/11
Clearly there will be on going disruption whilst the work is taking place and we will be putting pressure on Highways to commence resurfacing immediately following the Gas works at the end of March 2011.
In the meantime Highways will be carrying out some temporary repairs to the plethora of pot holes that are everywhere, and again we are trying to extract a schedule of this work from the same department. Please note that not all the roads within the park are the responsibility of the Highways department, so not all pot holes will receive attention.
The on going saga of the collapsed drain in Marlborough Road continues, however the good news is that remedial work will begin during the 3rd week of September. Let’s hope the drain has been reconstructed in time for the gas board to dig up the road for their pipes in October!!
